stomper45 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 just wondering if like on some web sites quality of cd freebies at events should be limited or is there no harm done in making them?
grant Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 just wondering if like on some web sites quality of cd freebies at events should be limited or is there no harm done in making them? Think I know what you are getting at here, abit like should one put a 'beep' or something on the track during the recording to stop it being pressed onto vinyl (if an exclusive or hard to find sound maybe), bit like what they do on the radio (although some on the radio I have heard doing that get a bit carried away with that....). Think its great for the punters and quality should be one that is of a fine audible quality, and in most cases they are used for easy listening of tunes you might only here at niters, soul nites etc. Usually these are done in ltd numbers, e.g. for the first 50 -100 through the doors, this also aids in getting people thru the doors early on (which is a good thing for the dj given the 1st spot), although these cds are usually copied on for peoplwe who didnt get one or didnt go to the event, I have had them done for me and have always appreciated them, likewise I have done copies for others of cds I have had as freebies at soul nites...share & share alike) .....or have I got the wrong end of the stick

Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 i like the sound of this if some times you can get a free cd. It gets you to hear new sounds and if you like you may well hunt for the vinyl record or artist cd albums
Rednose Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 i have been given cds on many occasions and i have copied them for people who cannot attend. i believe these cds are a very good advertisment for the soul event and many times people have said they will attend the next nite on the strength of the cd content.
Winnie :-) Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 just wondering if like on some web sites quality of cd freebies at events should be limited or is there no harm done in making them? =========== Not a worry if the track is already released on CD. Would only be a problem if the track was new to listeners?
