Sebastian Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Most likely just a case of a different pressing plants done at the time of initial release. Slightly different typesetting on the red/black vs. white/red labels.

Hi Sebastian Showed it to a few collectors at our Beer And record club none had seen a copy & 1 collector as most of the label releases on the label never seen a Red copy of the record Also no other Front Page releases had a full RED label only this realease ! Tlscapital Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Agree with Sebastian. There's even 3 different pressing plants involved for their previous one so... But indeed I don't remember seing that all red variant press... Must be rarer some outside of Detroit and about at least. 1
Kev John Posted December 6, 2023 Author Posted December 6, 2023 (edited) Just like to trow this image out there with the date 11/2/1974 written on the label ! Is this just someone writing a date when they got it or could it be something about the date of release ? or i'm clutching at straws......! Yet discogs put release circa 1970 Edited December 6, 2023 by Kev John
Sebastian Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 It is from 1970 or very early 1971. Was reviewed in Billboard Magazine in the January 9, 1971 issue. The red/black variant is seemingly a whole lot rarer, but I can find two copies that have gone through ebay, is one of those yours?: https://gripsweat.com/item/122134258864/northern-soul-the-victones-my-baby-changes-front-page-m-rare-red-1st-press https://gripsweat.com/item/402760659091/victones-my-baby-changes-northern-soulsweet-soul-45-front-page-hear 1

Yet discogs put release circa 1970 45Cat.com place it December 1970 and Billboard mag feature it in it's January 9th 1971 edition (page 50)... 1
Kev John Posted December 6, 2023 Author Posted December 6, 2023 (edited) Bit more info The only difference is the 2 record run outs is the ARP stamp on the RED issue All the etched info is exactly the same & the Bell Sound on both records in the same place between etched info Edited December 6, 2023 by Kev John
Sebastian Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 (edited) Here's another copy that sold in May 2015: https://www.rootsvinylguide.com/ebay_items/the-victones-my-baby-changes-front-page-1001-red-lbl-tempts-sound So it was mastered and plated at Bell Sound. Whichever pressing plant it was that pressed the red/white labelled release didn't add anything to the run-out grooves. But when ARP pressed the red/black release, they used copies of the Bell Sound plated stamper and added their "ARP" stamp to the run-out grooves. Edited December 7, 2023 by Sebastian 1 1

Seemed so cheap. 1
