Guest Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Last Monday I joined the BIG A. C. (Adrian Corbin) on Uckfield Radio for two hours of soul and a bit of of reggae music with a theme of rain and bad weather. I played Roger Ridley's 'Raindrops' on Zakia GG96245 . It's a rare record. In fact I've only ever seen one copy of the New York recorded LP and I bought it. The feedback from listeners was very positive for a melodramatic soul record with one punter claiming it was a lost masterpiece. I don't know about that but it is special. I have attached the music file so you can judge for yourself: The late Roger Ridley spent most of his adult life as a street performer and you can find him on YouTube singing in the New York Subway. He'd arrived from Georgia where he cut one 45 'Morning, Noon , I Cried' on the tiny Del-Pat label. Aside from a Christmas 45 the LP 'Raindrops' was his only other venture on vinyl although he does feature on a compilation of artists recorded for a project about Subway singers. 09 Raindrops.mp3
