Guest Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Jumping Joan has been very helpful however to upload she suggests "Anyway... once you're in MP3 format... you're ready to upload onto the site..... just click on the 'add new clip' button at the bottom of the page ... fill in song title / artist/ label... and bob's your uncle!" is there a section on the website that is specifically for uploading that you then transfer into your post? "the add new clip' button? that Joan suggests I simply cant find it?
Guest rachel Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Paul, have a look below this post, just above the adverts for record shops and hotels etc, there should be buttons with "new clip", "fast reply", "add reply" and "new topic". Click the "new clip" one and follow the instructions to upload your file into this thread.. it'll then be automatically put into the sounds library as well

Paul at the bottom of the last post where it says 'add reply' 'fast reply' and 'new topic' there is a button there with a little record on it and it say's 'add new clip' just hit that, and it will take you to the upload page
Guest martinsbox Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 (edited) it say's 'add new clip' just hit that, and it will take you to the upload page Unlike me, make sure you're adding the right clip! Added Otis Clay's "Three is a crowd", instead of the Elites track I intended adding. Is there a way of either deleting or editing your 'sounds' once added? Martin Here is The Elites - Sir Galahad I intended putting up first. Edited October 20, 2006 by martinsbox
Guest rachel Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 If you're using the 'new clip' function, I don't think there's any way of deleting a clip once you've uploaded it.. but don't worry if you make a mistake, not a big deal... just post up the correct one afterwards. But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't attach mp3s to forum threads - the new clip function is just as easy to use, once you're in the uploading screen you do the same process of browsing and selecting a file. If anyone has any problems using it then either PM one of the mods or shout up in Site Q&As section

I watch my children grow old uploading sound clips Yopur mp3 could be on the large side? I convert to mp3 pro and they are around 800kb / imeg and they upload in seconds rather than minutes. I'll do an mp3 test of Heartbreaking Truth - Don & Juan which is 2.28 minutes long and converted to mp3 @ 128 kbps.

I've got 8meg broadband too.... I'll stick to mp3pros can I recommend getting Jet Audio and doing the same Think musicmatch does mp3pros too Edited October 20, 2006 by chalky
Guest rachel Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 (edited) It does take longer the bigger the file, 2.5Mb took a couple of minutes this morning, on my work LAN connection which is faster than any broadband I've seen. Apparently there are some problems with uploading depending on how the file is encoded... Paul, at what stage did you get the "don't have permission" message? Edited October 20, 2006 by rachel
Mike Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 uploading ok am looking into the upload speed thing at moment have had a quick look at the sizes of recent ones Chalkys kell osbourne mp3 is 700 Kb (under 1mb) while esther phillips was almost 7mb (7000kb) others are 2 -5 mb so for example esther phillip is always gonna take 10 times longer to upload than kell osbourne in this case before uploading , have a look at the size of the mp3 , if its over 2mb then its always gonna be a while most software lets ya change the settings, so that the output is smaller - as long as its 22 or 44 khz then should be ok if need any advice on changing the setings or ought just shout up with what programme you are using to do the mp3s or can test in the test forum know its getting a bit geeky, talking bout settings and all that , but can't do ought about the size this end untill its uploaded permissions if getting no pernissions not logged in messages, its cause you are not logged in fully to site login again via login or front page and you should then be fully logge din next step the sounds feature is a "one step at the time" work in progress feature, and will be improved very shortly ta for passing on feedback, probs etc (and the clips, have to say my ears been having a right old feast) ta mike

MP3 pro is normal mp3 quality yet less than half the size. I encoded to 40kbps for the Kell Osbourne and it is around Real Audio size but far better quality.
