Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Anyone heard there version of Just a Little Misunderstanding as i think it's classic and woud any of there songs be played on the Northern scene
Sebastian Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 The Jacksons "Blues Away" on Epic/PIR and Michael Jackson's "We're Almost There" on MOTOWN surely must've had plays on the modern scene. They're both absolutely superb steppers.
Guest stash313 Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 We're almost there is a big favourite of mine and does get spins. A top tune...

Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 The Jacksons "Blues Away" on Epic/PIR and Michael Jackson's "We're Almost There" on MOTOWN surely must've had plays on the modern scene. They're both absolutely superb steppers. I used to hammer "We're Almost There" at the old Sidedoor Soul sessions in the early 90s. "Blues Away" was a big record in the soul-orientated pubs along London's Old Kent Road in the 80s and probably earlier. I've always loved "Girl You're So Together" from Wacko's "not released till the 80s" Motown album, too, and "It's Too Late To Change The Time" (other side - and, indeed, the orginal 'A' side - of the J5's "Dancing Machine") is simply exquisite... Guest Matt Male Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I think 'I want you back' is one of the best soul/pop records of all time, i'd like to hear it played out. It's dancable
Sebastian Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I think 'I want you back' is one of the best soul/pop records of all time, i'd like to hear it played out. It's dancable I love the previously unreleased David Ruffin version of this and have been hammering it whenever I've been able to since it was released some 8 years or so ago. It's a fantastic track.

Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 ...and while I think about it, the bit on "The Love You Save" where Jermaine comes in after the brief bridge and duets the next chorus with Wacko is truly ORGASMIC!!!!!!!!! J5 also did several wonderful ballads, esp. "I Found That Girl" (other side of "The Love You Save" and "I'll Be There" of course. Jermaine's arrival on the latter after Wacko sings the fIrst two verses is just to die for. He's such an underrated vocalist and one who was not always as well served by his repertoire as he might have been, esp. in his solo career. TONE
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 (edited) Agree it's a good version Sebastian but not a patch on The J5 doing it. ...Nor is Martha Reeves' version (which she's always claimed was the original - yeah right, Marth'...) J5's I Want You Back is still a fantastic record after 35 years, and the intro might just be the best start to a record - ANY record - that the world has ever heard! Guest Baz Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Wern't some of the Jacko 5's first cuts on Steeltown? in a crossovery vein?
Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 they did cut some stuff on there. there is many cd's out that feature lots of there 60's cuts. but on motown they was great. suprise to see some songs on modern scene but surely you can't put them with northen soul. Still i stand at Just a Little Misunderstanding by them being played out or even Love's Gone bad there version of a Chris Clarke tune
soul45s Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 We're almost there is a big favourite of mine and does get spins. A top tune... I remember buying this as a new (old) release Loved it, though ive never heard it played out anywhere? Are there any other versions of this in the vaults, surely such a good tune would have 'done the rounds' at Motown and possibly other labels?
Guest Lady Maverick Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I have JUST A LITTLE MISUNDERSTANDING on my SOULSATION Box Set and am in the process of recording that from my cassette to MP3...I can upload it when it's done? Also, I have plenty on Steeltown!
