Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings here. But I've been asked to pass on that Paul Woods - Woodsy from Hull(although he lived in the Colne area for a good few years), died unexpectedly earlier this week. A real character Paul, and a Wigan record bar stalwart. Often to be found in the company of other Hullites, Mike Kemp, Steve Gainey, Rick Laydon, Keith et al, and/or picking Brad & Barries brains for record tips. A very good knowledge himself and a chap who could cause a mass record argument in a phone-box! Always considered good company by his many pals. He will be sorely missed...

Found out last Saturday via Brad, many happy memories with Paul at the Casino and other places, plus numerous  ' dodgy' adventures that spring to mind ( was always an interesting time when out with Woodsy )

Was his Best Man when he Married at Beverley Minster, later he  returned the favour by being mine, when I Married Pam in 1980.

Another character gone, leaving the 'scene' poorer for his passing,RIP,gonna miss you

Such sad news.

Paul was certainly a character, not everyone's cup of tea but once you got past that brashness he was a pussycat who would do anything for you.

Most of my Wigan stories involve him & there's quite a few to tell.Lost touch after Wigan but met up again at The Wilton in the 90t's & there was more fun to be had.Always wanting to point me in the right direction about tunes, always telling me what to buy out of Barries sales box.In amongst all the help there was that wicked wit with a glint in his eye to see if he could get a reaction out of you,I loved that.

R.I.P mate.

Sad to hear this, I hadn't seen Paul for many years but have fond memories of him at Wigan and also Sunday nights at Centre Bar just chilling.  He was a wealth of knowledge back then.  Would love to have met up with him again but too late now. RIP ....

Thanks Guy

I'm really gutted to hear about this even though I've not seen Woodsy for many a year. The first time I went to Wigan it was with Paul and George (also sadly taken too soon) in my old Austin 1100 and we became good pals. He was always passionate about the scene and I'm really sorry that I never had the chance to catch up with him again. Sleep peacefully Paul.
