Few more from me. Perhaps some leaning towards ballads rather than deep, but often on my playlist nevertheless.

Roy Lee Johnson - Take me back and try me

Johnny Baker - Accept me as I am

Cashmeres - Ain't no coming back

Fred Parris and the Restless Hearts - Ain't no use in crying

Little Royal - Jealous

George Jackson - Macking on you

Eddy G Giles - Love with a feeling

Elevation - Love won't pay the bills

Cicero Blake - Sad feeling

Spoilers - Sad man's land

Fantastic track. Great vocal but boy those Muscle Shoals players were something, weren't they?

A few more to consider

When she touches me - Rodge Martin

Another mans woman - Laura Lee

Oh what I'd give - Tommy Collins

Just a touch of your hand - Al Gardner

You hurt me for the last time - Otis Clay

Asking for the truth - Reuben Bell

We gonna make it - Roger Hatcher

Anyone but you - Barbara West

Mr Independent - Soul Twins

Easier to say than do - Betty Lavette

I want to be free - Connie McGill & the Visions

and this.

Top quality group. Two members were in the Glories, Mildred Vaney and Frankie Gearing, Gearing cuting some great deep soul, not only on her beal street LP but also 'Tears on my pillow' for the Bound sound logo in Florida. Lois Reeves was also a member, formerly of Martha reeves and the Vandellas. An excellent choice.

Yep, it's a super record Andy. The whole Memphis based Hi output is absolute class. The fantastic Darryl Carter is credited on the QE record - here's one from him.

I also always loved the Hi output and have many many Hi 45's ... BUT ... just to complete my collection, I bought copies of all those cheap UK comp Hi CD's put out about 20+ years back ..... comps like ... Soul Searching; What's The Question 1 & 2; Memphis Soul Greats; Trouble, Heartaches & Sadness; Pain, Sorrow & Lonliness; Should I Go Or Should I Stay; Name of The Game; Hi Girls; Hi Records 45 Collection 1 & 2 ... ETC.

Yep, there's plenty to go at Roburt. There's a superb Hi box set with accompanying booklets of notes - its very extensive. Ian D had a packaged one for sale the other week - cheap.

Those old cheapie Hi related CD's were put out by Demon Records, they didn't have extensive sleeve notes but the music they contained was fandabbydozy ...

they still have copies of em on Amazon BUT they're not cheap anymore (used to cost around 4 quid each for 20+ tracks).

Reuben Bell - Asking For The Truth

Gloria Barnes - Old before my time

Bobby Womack - I'm through trying to prove my love to you

I've seen Irma Thomas, Barbara Lynn, Percy Sledge and Ray Charles perform live in honky tonk small country bar venues, decades ago.

Also Allen Toussaint while in New Orleans back in the 70s. He was awesome. Same with James Booker and many others...

They were all very good. I tended to like funk more, so I really liked seeing the original funky Meters.

Not bothered whether they are rare, or common, they just need to hit the spot!

Larry Williams & ATS Express - Doing the Best You Can with What you Got

Walter Jackson - No Easy Way Down

The Newcomers - Too Little in Common to be Lovers (Too Much Going on to say Good-Bye)

Tony Troutman - I Truly Love You

William Bell - I Forgot To Be Your Lover

Milton Wright - The Silence that you Keep

Billy McGregor - It's My Turn Now

Wilma Scott - It's A Mean Old World

Jimmy Connor - The Reality of Life

Them Two - Am I A Good Man

Debbie Taylor & The Hesitations - All That I Have

loads more, but those are really up my street.
