I'm looking for less obvious, stuff I may not have come across, but if there's a more obvious stone-dead-favorite that you think is a must listen to then please post that too. Another one worth a mention is Joe Valentine I can't stand to see you go which is brilliant despite Joe sounding a wee bit like Phil Silvers on the spoken bit.

Joe Odom .... on 1 2 3 in the US, Capitol in the UK (more about him on Sir Shambling) ... he (with the Assembly of Soul) used to be regulars at the Williams Lake Dance Club back in the 60's ...
