Guest Awake 502 Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Just a quick word of warning for anyone accepting PayPal for payments for records etc. NEVER NEVER NEVER, ship anything paid for by PayPal without a tracking number, proof of posting is not enough, the buyer only has to claim the item has not been received and you will lose your money and your goods. If the buyer refuses to pay extra for insurance / tracking number, be very wary.....

I had the same problem a few weeks ago shipping an Lp to Germany to an un-confirmed address The pillock provided an address via paypal which I mailed to, then claimed it was not delivered Paypal froze my account until I refunded the money
Rich Buckley Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I haven't sold many bits on Ebay, but have a few up at the moment and have insisted that all records here and abroad are sent signed for post. Not worth the risk with so many scammers about. Think Pete S had quite a few problems with this in the past. Rich

Not worth the risk with so many scammers about. Think Pete S had quite a few problems with this in the past. Rich I work for Royal Mail and would recommend insisting on special delivery for expensive records in the uk and international signed for for any foreign. Both of these are insured , but make sure you insure the package to it's true value. If you are selling on ebay make this clear on your listings. Recorded delivery is ok but the items are not insured using this. cheers Derek Edited October 16, 2006 by blackwhite
Pete S Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I make overseas buyers pay insurance if the sale is over £25, if it's under then I'm prepared to stand the cost if they go missing, because 99% of people are honest. I lost about £300 to two wankers saying they hadn't received the items, both French, so I said never again! I have also sent people in the UK invoices for records over £100 and they have not chosen the recorded delivery option, which immediately makes me suspicious, so I pay that myself.

Yep those French buyers scammed everyone a little while back, cost me £100 although I eventually got it back from PayPal took me 2 months and 20 odd phone calls to them and I think that in the end they gave me the cash just to shut me up
