JimK Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Was looking to buy the True Tones "He's Got The Nerve" when I notice it was released on three separate labels. I have seen the Soulville and the Josie but not the one on Musicor. Could anyone tell me if they are all the same track and if you have any further info please. cheers Jim

The take is the same but the mixes are different. It's punchier with the 2 time beat hit on the tambourine and rawer with the vocals further on the front on the Soulville than on the Josie which I like less in the end. 2
The Yank Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 Has anyone ever seen a copy of the True Tones on Musicor? A very popular price guide lists "He's Got The Nerve"/ "Every Man Needs A Woman..." on Musicor #1188. Musicor #1188 is J.B. Troy - "Ain't It The Truth"/ "Every Man Needs a Woman". So ... is the Musicor release a listing error ??
Frankie Crocker Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Never seen this great track on Musicor. Soulville pressing is off-centre in some cases so caution advised. Must have been a successful local release to be picked up by Josie. Copies on both Soulville and Josie are easy enough to pick up. Sure would like to see a label scan on Musicor if it exists.
Robbk Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 I have seen hundreds of both the Soulville and the Josie. It was a fairly common record. It got a fair amount of play on WVON. I NEVER saw it on Musicor. I suspect that is some sort of error. The odds are that it IS an error. But, let's not forget the situation with the UK Darrell Banks, in which the original pick up label was dropped before the official first pressing, and the 2nd pick up label put it out.
Roburt Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Musicor MU1188 is J.B. Troy and every other Musicor number around that time is also accounted for.
