Guest Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Why a mistake Ken? Was recorded by Shorty Long before Mitch Ryder. Because its Mitch Ryder on a jobete(motown) company album, and what we thinks the fourmost aswell
pikeys dog Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 In the UK you could put out any record without paying royalties so long as it was limited to 99 copies... as these were seen as promotional items and exempt Maybe it was the same in the U.S. A case of Motown blowing their trumpet by highlighting the fact that people wanted to cover their tunes?
Dave Moore Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Hi Ken, The key word here is "Jobete". There are a number of Jobete promo things that are knocking around including a two album set of Motown stuff including songs covered by non Motown artists. The Detroit Wheels actually can be found with a Motown connection through the Inferno label owned by Harry Balk.....it's all in There's That Beat! Issue 2 out 10 December (blatant plug! ) Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
