Hi Guys....This is my 1st post on this forum. I hope you guys can help me. I picked up a vg+++ to near mint copy (2 light paper scuffs) of the OXFORD NIGHTS 45 on Delhi last weekend. I got it for 25 cents at a garage sale in Sacramento. The guy had (2) 45s for sale, The OXFORD NIGHTS & a square dance 45 It looked interesting so I bought it. I did some research when I got home and found out a quantity were found 2 years ago. I see that the last copy sold on Ebay for $793 in June of 2006. But I also see that the last 2 copies didn't sell for $500 & $336. I post a lot on the Garage band forum and on one of their threads (Thrift scores) I posted that I had found this 45 by OXFORD NIGHTS. One of the members recognized it and asked me if it had a flat label or glossy label. I said flat and that it had MUSIC CITY machine stamped in the dead wax. He PM'ed me and said that it was an original. But he said that the recent copies turned up were the glossy re-presses from a few years ago. Since these were going for high prices and that a lot of people were mad once they found out that they (got burned) weren't originals, the value on mine would be greatly diminished. What do you guys think? It seems my original would still be quite valuable. Any thoughts?
Whoops...I just found a couple of more posts on this topic. But after reading all of them, I'm still in the dark. I'm sure mine is original. But what is the final word on the re-presses? Are they on flat or glossy labels? And do they have MUSIC CITY stamped in the dead wax?
