Who are they

Self appointed, self righteous "legends in their own heads" :D ....

What are they

SAD :D ....

Where do you find them

Sadly, at times, on here :( ....

Are they influential

Only to each other :D ....

Are they required

In their own heads :D ....

Do they even realise they're policing the scene

I'd say no, more like trying to "direct" it :D ....

Are they causing the scene to fragment

Probably, with regard to attracting "sheep" who buy into it :D ....

Comments :D

See above  ....

'Allo allo allo, wots goin' on 'ere then?

Who are they

Anyone and everyone

What are they

ordinary soul fans with a passion for justice and truth

Where do you find them

Everywhere

Are they influential

Possibly...

Are they required

Like the real police, everyone moans about them, until you need them (ie dodgy e bay rip-offs etc) then everyone is glad they're there

Do they even realise they're policing the scene

No.. just think they are trying to protect it.

Are they causing the scene to fragment

No, not at all.

Comments :D

I'm a special constable.....

if that means that I don't want to hear the same old same old week in week out

don't think that a record collection gives you a given right to DJ

don't want anyone who has no idea of rythem or timing doing acrobats, or some kind of gymnastic display anywhere near me - unless they are wearing a leotaed. Actually change that too PLEASE can comeone come to a nighter in a leotard and do acrobats

and much more importantly anyone wearing white ankle socks and/or sporting a tash should be escorted from the building with a lifetime ban :D

perhaps I'm just a soul snob - but thats not always such a bad thing :D

Bloody hell, that could have been me answering my own post :D

Difficult one though, cos would guess that a lot may not want to own up to being 'soul police', mainly cos they don't recognise it in themselves :D

Interesting that your answers were so completely different to Trevs, yet you saw his comments of those of a passionate soulie. I'm not saying Trev is Soul police, or that he's anything other than a committed soulie, but where does the committment end and the policing start?

:D Anyone on the scene with an opinion could be construed as 'soul police'.

The more vocal, the higher rank? So I guess folk on here are more than constables .. :D

ps, when they write ss, do they really mean soul source? :D

Seems people's perception of what the "soul police" is are different Winnie.... like you said, I saw Trev's answers as those of any old "passionate soulie" sharing info and looking out for each other, especially regarding the eBay slant.... I see the "police" as going a lot deeper than that but difficult to explain.... usually shows in certain answers to posts where it is seen, by me IMO, to go beyond help and info and more towards "directing" people's thoughts and opinions....

I don't see Trev as a "police officer", just a "passionate soulie" hence my take on his answers.... where that stops and policing starts, is like you suggest, difficult to narrow down.... but, as stated, answers to posts shows it to me....

Maybe it's a "Good cop, bad cop" senario Mark :D

:D:D .... probably....

well i slaughter people in print for playing boots so if that comes under the heading of soul police ..... so be it

That's not policing Dave IMO.... just a belief in "playing format" which we know has been covered over and over again.... that's for the individual to live with behind the decks and the dancers to accept in front of them....

Not sure if that's a crime, something for the powers that be to decide?:D

how can being in the police be a crime .......hmm? bit of a contradiction there

the question should surely be , do you think the soul scene needs policing ?

In many dictatorships, freedom of expression is often ruthlessly quashed. Although, this can leave a bitter taste in the mouth, there are a few benefits - such as the policing of government buildings (soul venues) to eradicate those not 'on message' .

Similarly, I'd prefer cameras to be confiscated by the secret soul police, so that the impressionable proletariat wouldn't be bombarded with photos of ageing subversives - especially those intent on mischief making. :D:thumbsup::D

If we are all SS members dedicated to the cause then are the " SOUL POLICE" an official branch of our beloved SS or are they conspirators in splinter fashion, IE are they trying to bend us over to there way of thinking? Are we being slowly moulded?

my mate brett franklin is a member of the soul police constabularly. i have seen this man storm the stage a few times when a boot is being played. quite funny really cos as he does his march to the stage i always wonder if this will be the time that he ends up getting head-butted ph34r.gif

top man regardless
