We Wulfrunians (people of Wolverhampton) were more or less told we had to like this record in the 70's as it was the last record ever played at The Catacombs. It's one of his worst records. terrible.

Horrendus is a bit strong, I remember it filling the floor and will admit to allways having a soft spot for it in fact only recently aquired this 45 a few months ago, I never know I'll keep trying was on the B side, it is IMO by far the better side. The man has the voice to carry any song and I have personly not herd a bad song by him,

One thats never out the play box - If I had my way - Chisound, Love it :thumbsup:

:thumbsup::yes:

Used to annoy the f**kout of me when they hammered it at the casino, but hearing it now sounds good - played it out myself about a year ago and filled the floor on several occassions

Agreed Old Friend ..... " TFT " is indeed a veritable top tune : Reg Williams has been known to regularly give it a spin at THE CORNER POCKET ( Mexborough , South Yorkshire - Saturday October 21st : Guest DJ ROB SMITH ) .

The Walter Jackson tune that really does it for me is " They Don't Give Medals To Yesterday's Heroes " ....... truly superb . :thumbsup:

...Whether or not the songs are to everyone's taste (and I'd be the first to admit that not all of them are to mine) I don't believe that Walter Jackson ever made a bad record. With a voice like that, he would have been incapable of doing so...

...I rather like "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" - it's a poignant anti-war song in its natural state and Walter's treatment gets away from the po-faced renditions it usually received from the likes of the Kingston Trio et al.

We're just about to issue, on a Kent CD and for the first time anywhere, two of Walter's greatest performances on the next volume in Ace's "Complete Columbia/Okeh/Epic Recordings" series. If you are not moved deeply by "That's When I'll Come To You" or his stupendous, one take rendition of Randy Newman's "I Think It's Going To Rain Today " then you are patently not as much of a Soul fan as you think you are :D

TONE :thumbsup:
