Drew3 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 What is the history of this record please? Someone has just done me a disc with this on; new to me and I love it. The info on its YouTube page is not clear with comments suggesting that it is not that old. Regards. Drew.
John Benson Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 From what I remember it was first released on the Kent CD 'Masterpieces of Modern Soul'. Then as a 45 on Kent for the 24th Anniversary 6Ts give away at the 100 Club around 2003, later still it 'appeared' on Noriega - which is questionable as to it's legitimacy and certainly wasn't around prior to the Kent releases. Maybe someone else can fill in the blanks? https://www.discogs.com/artist/329706-Debra-Johnson
Iancsloft Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Mark Speakman has the answers to the Nor.release I think

KevH Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 I asked the same question over the Noriega release a while ago. Ady's the man.!!
Drew3 Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 So, is this a 60s or 70s recording that was unreleased before the Kent stuff as it had 'sat in the vaults' as it were? Regards. Drew.
The Yank Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 The Kent 100 Club single says its a Gator recording which would make it from the early 70's.
Guest randy Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 The Noriega press was done by LA Record dealer Mike Noriega in conjunction with Miles Grayson writer of this song and the other stuff on the LA Gator Label. I can remember it coming out but not sure of the exact year. I was buying from him and his wife Emily on ebay about 15 years ago. Mike is fairly well know to lots of British collectors. You don't see the Noriega press for sale too often now one on Discogs for £100!
Guest randy Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 On the Noriega press you also get the flipside "My Baby For You"
Geeselad Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 one of a few prev unreleased that is yet to really have its day.
