Sammy Seaman Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 (edited) your thoughts on the 2 takes of this ! I like the more slower soulful version on the 2149-S issue, than the faster version they play out in the clubs cheers sammy Edited June 18, 2016 by sammy seaman
Patto Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Sammy mine is the U.K issue.I guess that is the faster take.I prefere to hear the faster one played out as its better for the dancers, but as you say the slower take has more soul and is nice to hear at home 1
Sjclement Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Just waded through the Jessie Fisher thread and still no wiser Is this going to be a regular thing ? 1
Davenpete Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Didn't Mr L get him onto Terry Wogan when it was remixed and reissued - he certainly appeared under another name on there? Dx

The Yank Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Is anyone else having trouble trying to hear the 2149 version? If I try to listen to it here or on you tube, I get an error message saying "This video content from SME, who blocked it in your country on copyright grounds". I (obviously) live in the U.S. and the 2149 version appears on the U.S. promo so why is it "blocked" ??

Mike Lofthouse Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 is one slower than the other? can hear a different mix but played them simultaneously and seemed the same tempo to me. Also, were both versions actually released ?- the clips compare demo with issue. And if both released how can I tell?

Exact same tempo on both, same recordings, vocal take etc. Just different mix/production. You can tell by the different "master" numbers on the label. 2149-S = "early, different, hollow sounding mix" MP3: https://paperstax.net/bay/clips/0516-SF45-215.mp3 2172-S = "corrected, meaty sounding, usual play-out take" MP3: https://soundflies.puresoulie.com/jeffperry - lovedontcomenostonger.mp3 3
Mick Holdsworth Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Here's the four US variations 2149-S (Demo) 2149-S- (Issue) 2172-S (Demo) These images are typical, as there are multiple variations of these first three (different layouts, demos with coloured logo and black logo etc.). However, I could only find this single scan of a 2172-S Issue (there may, of course, be others). 2172-S (Issue) Cheers Mick 1
Guest johnny hart Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Hi The Yank, I am getting blocked SME on both plays , here in Malaga.,Spain . But can play the Tony Stone version on Ensign a German smoothie (on you tube and Discogs at 3.50 euros or £350 after Thursdays brexit ..?) Copyright restrictions apply to mobile and tablet plays the way this thread is going I will certainly need the latter, have a great day LOL ,Johnny.
Citizen P Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 I am (almost) certain I have a version by Martha Reeves
John Benson Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Not wanting to say anything that's not been said before, but this was discussed on here over two years ago in 2014, what's more - Peter, who said he didn't know there were two takes, was involved in that very thread! Here's the link:
