Here’s another one for you - Some of these polls will be stronger than others, but hoping they generate interesting topics of conversation. There are a few ready, but if any of you have an idea for a future poll you think would be of interest, please PM me, and I’ll add it to the list

Ref this poll - If you went to more than one of these classic venues which were they, which did you prefer, and why?

Cheers,

Len

Probably the finest sets I ever heard from Sir Dickie at Wigan. The blend of 60's newies and modern was awesome. Always remember Richard playing the Deadbeats followed by Omni.

Brilliant.

Wigan for me. But the triple whammy of Mecca-Casino-Ritz on a weekend trumps all. Gethro's book brought plenty back for me such as the decor details at Blackpool Mecca. But how can you compare classic 100 Club Nighters of the 90's with all the 60's oldies and latest discoveries, to say, the Twisted Wheel or Torch, venues that had been and gone before I got involved? The earliest venues deserve loads of votes but might not get as many as the mass-market places attended by a more diverse audience.

No, not at all. You're still on the scene. Many went just the once; some I took in as guests but left underwhelmed. Some 'regulars' went more than I did, never danced and were there simply to be with mates or a girlfriend and had no interest in the music then or now, strange though that may seem.

When new to the scene I had the chance to go to the last few months of Wigan , but was advised by my peers that it was going downhill fast and a bit of a toilet to boot , consequently I never bothered with it and stuck with Leicester and Peterborough niters to start , along with evenings in Cambs and Norwich.

Wasn't long before the names Stafford and 100 Club were heard bandied about and the rest is history , do I regret missing Wigan , not in the least bit ... :D

I'm unsure what this pole is for.  I'm nearly 50 and I'm only old enough to have frequented the tail end of Stafford and the 100 club, so what about the views of those younger?  As the 100 Club is still going it doesn't make sense to include it in the list. Also, a lot has gone on since these clubs have closed and there are already many look back threads including polls for the best historic venue.

I thought the title and question said it all John

Which Classic Venue Did You Attend?

I  took it as a simple poll for members to pass on which classic clubs they went to ?

thats how i voted

err...  Len ?

Yes, it was just an 'out of interest' thing really, am obviously aware there are many other clubs that were / are really good, The hand full I put up are a cross section of the years.

Point taken ref younger people could only tick The 100 Club. I thought it would be interesting to read peoples' comparison views if they have attended more than one of those venues listed.

All the best,

Len
