Funky 4 Corners Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Does anyone know why this LP had two different sleeves please? Issued April 1964, #229. I appreciate that the black one is misspelled but I heard it came out after the other. Thanks.
The Yank Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 It was probably due to marketing- when the album was first released in 1962, the title was a good selling point. As the years went on, the title dated the album.
Funky 4 Corners Posted May 7, 2016 Author Posted May 7, 2016 Thanks, I'd heard a similar theory, it can't have sold that many thru' 1962, it is quite rare as you know.
Robbk Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Also, it was "false advertising", as the only song on it that was released as a single, ("Tistin' Postman" wasn't even a hit, and the others were garbage LP filler material. The first cover is very rare, while I've seen scads of the 2nd. I;m sure that they switched covers very early in the LPs sales run, maybe near the beginning of 1963.
