paultp Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 So many good records, why is it that when you hear something fantastic for the first time it is quite often acompanied by the knowledge that you don't have enough money for it? This seems to coincide with Mr Manships auctions actually; last time it was The Parisians, This time its the Chico Lamarr How good is this record? Awesome !!! Time for sleeps ....... anticipating a hangover as well. Cheers Paul
Pete S Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 (edited) About The Parisians - few years back, probably 2001, I was at Brighton record fair and standing with Mick Smith on his stall and a lad offered him a copy of The Parisians for £125, he said to me is it any good, I said well put it this way, if you don't want it - I'll have it. So he had a listen and told me I could have it. I kept it for about 6 months then sold it for not much more (to Simon I think). So go on then, how much is it now? Edited October 6, 2006 by Pete-S

Guest Baz Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Mad world Why Pete? whens the last time you had one for sale? when was the last time you see one for sale? Seen one in january on a list @£500 which is proberly nearer the correct value, and manships auction copy thats 2 in this year (of course more could have been sold but eyes not every where) seen plenty of 'harder' stuff for sale more often

Guest Baz Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Baz are you one of those people who likes to brag about how much they pay for records or something?? Where did that come from when do i brag about what i payed for records? that i spent so much on it or i got them cheaper
Pete S Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 Where did that come from when do i brag about what i payed for records? that i spent so much on it or i got them cheaper I'm just asking. You seem to celebrate the high price of things and turn your nose up at reports of bargains

Wasn't to me Pete, wish it had been as i've been after a copy for a number of years, ever since i first heard Steve Csordas play it out many moons ago. It's a great record but i've seen enough copies up for sale in the past to think that it's currently overpriced, £250 would be a fair price in my sane world. Simon
