Mike Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Soul Source music video feature announcement The below soul music video has just been added to our in house soul video feature .... Name: George Gently - Gently Northern Soul Category: Video Bites Date Added: 16/11/22 Submitter: Mike Video Description: updated 2022 full 90 min epsiode was also on vimeo Working with Gillies McKinnon, a very giving director, the style in which to shoot this came like an epiphany one night. I knew the script needed to be treated in a completely different way to previous G.Gs', Set against the 'Rivers of Blood' speech by Enoch Powell the script had a visceral tension. I thought of 1968 documentary photography - Time, Life magazine and put the camera on my shoulder for 90% of the time. THe camera took on the energy of the performancesif you do avoid uk tv detective shows like the plague then this may be a useful catch up 9 min type clip from Dominic Clemence 'Gently Northern Soul updated cut. An interesting stylistic contrast with Gently With Class. Gillies McKinnon and George Faber were terrific in embracing the idea of shooting the episode in an entirely different way. Shot 98% hand held, I used 1968, Time/Life as my reference point.' Tap below to watch the video right now... PLAY VIDEO: George Gently - Gently Northern Soul Soul Source Soul Music Video Feature
Guest Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 I saw the original screening of this show. I'm 100% certain that the sound track featured NS originals....can't remember the tunes but I recall being pleasantly surprised by the tunes used, although there was a Four Tops track being danced to (in 1968) that wasn't actually discovered/issued until 2005! However, when I watched the repeat showing a few months ago, the soundtrack had been changed, with "tailor-made" 60s soul/dance tunes. I presume there was a copyright problem?
