Roburt Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 .......... FOUND ON THE NET ............ A huge U.S. record company, at a board meeting, proposed to dump all the tapes in the vaults because the cost of housing them was an unnecessary expense. Fortunately, a lone voice at the meeting (a superfan) piped up to say he had just got some old songs included in a film soundtrack and that the payment for their use was enough to finance the cost of the tape facility for years. He argued that the tape vaults were a goldmine and needed to be treated with respect. That day, his voice won the argument. Like at every big company these days, the finance guys rule the roost .... musicians & music fans figure very little in the decision making that takes place at Record Company management meetings !! Ohh for the glorious days of the little indie labels. Lots still involved in US / UK / elsewhere in putting out old tracks BUT few involved with new music anymore ... Daptone & the like excluded !!
