Will Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I'm trying to identify a record, '60s, male vocal, sounded a little like Billy Stewart. The record included the line "Watch out before..." or very similar, at the beginning of the chorus. The tempo and production reminded me of Pat & the Blenders, "Just because" I heard it played in the Queen Vic at Prestatyn. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Pga1 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Not had much time to think, how about 'watch out little girl' invitations or billy Stewart 'look back and smile'. Cheers 1
Will Posted March 14, 2016 Author Posted March 14, 2016 Neither of those two, but they were great listening! Cheers.
Roburt Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 (edited) Don't sound much like Brrr - Brrr Brrrr -- Billy Stewart to me !! Edited March 14, 2016 by Roburt 1
Guest trickbag Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I know it doesn't sound like Billy (fat boy) Stewart, but then no one sounds like Billy. it was the watch out that I was guessing on,but thanks none the less Roburt

Kevinkent Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) The Holidays - Watch Out Girl Same title but different song to the Embers. Can't hear any Billy Stewart similarity but this one is a tad closer to Pat & The Blenders. - Kev Edited March 15, 2016 by KevinKent 1
Kjw Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Fantastics - High Note sounds similar to Pat & The Blenders 1
Will Posted March 17, 2016 Author Posted March 17, 2016 Thanks but I've still not found it. By way of a thank you to all of you who've put the time and effort in to helping me, I'm going to list all of the records that I recall hearing in the smaller rooms at the Prestatyn weekender. I'll add them by way of an edit to the event review I've already posted. Hopefully there'll be some that you don't know / be pleased to be reminded of. I'll be listing over 100 so it should at least be an interesting read for a few minutes. 1
jocko Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 The Showmen, No Girl on Jeree, there is a great version, a better version I dare to say, by Billy Stewart. Can't remember if there are any vocal similarities now though. 1
Stateside Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 This probably isn't it, but The Dramatics - "Whatcha see is watcha get" has the brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and the Watcha in it. Kev 1
Len Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 'The Internationals - Beautiful Philosophy' ??? All the best, Len 3
Steviehay Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 If you remember what time /day you were in the Vic dj list was up and posted in was in there twice so feasible to ask the jocks / jock who was on at the time ?? 1

Tlscapital Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 If the DJ pitched this one up I could imagine it sounding like 'just because' and the Billy Stewart type-O-singing is already there as:
Bossfourpart1 Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Perhaps this might be the tune ; Little Hank - try to understand - SS7 records . Its always reminded me of that Billy Stewart rrrrr singing style.. Great tune this. regards Frank
KevH Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 Hi Will, Mick H has a tune that I thought sounded like Billy Stewart - "Look back and smile". I even commented on it to Geoff Green at the time. Wasn't at Prestatyn though.
jocko Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 The Billy Stewart one is Shownen No Girl I think, an old Dean Anderson spin.
KevH Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 (edited) No guys, not "No Girl",or the Kings Sound Int's - this one is on a red label. providing I'm thinking of the right record.! Edited September 7, 2017 by KevH
Alan T Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Sounds a bit like Billy, right tempo maybe but the words are not there. Robinhood - Don’t Be Afraid Of Love - Capitol
Tlscapital Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Aouch ! That is a noisy nosy annoying singer. Almost made year bleed....
