I remember having to sell my tickets for The junior at the Casino, as my wages as an apprentice fitter couldn't cover my travel costs that particular week.I was naturally gutted, but my faith in God was fully restored whilst walking around my then home town of Newport when I saw a flyer advertising him appearing at Newport Tiffany's at A Rugby club's do :D .(the following tuesday )Naturally went, saw, In awe I might add and I've still got the original flyer, plus got my Road Runner album signed by the whole band :D Don't remember 2 drummers tho :D , alas the mist of time, and old age, etc. etc.

Quite correct ..... Junior's son - Autry DeWalt Jr - was indeed a member , and drummer , with / of the All - Stars during the above time .

I was introduced to Junior Jr ( ? ) backstage at The Torch following his dad's appearance at the all - nighter on Saturday , November 18th 1972 , and had a good and lengthy conversation with Junior Jr about working with his dad , his influences , the scene , playing at the Torch , and other things . The following night JW & TAS played the Fiesta in Sheffield , and a crowd of us were at the front . When the AS took the stage , I shouted hello to Junior Jr , who recognised me , and gave me the thumbs up sign . Following the gig , we waited at the stage door for them to come out ; when they did Junior Jr came over , and welcomed us like old friends . He shouted JW over , and said to him " This guy was at the gig last night " , to which JW said " two days in a row - you must like our

music " ....... Ain't that the truth .

Remember going to see them at Wakefield Mecca around 71? about 30 of us danced in a big circle. Seem to remember the following being there.

Martin Adshead, Lloyd Bogle,Dave Clegg, Lesley Brown, Glennys Duffy, Carolyn Greenwood ( now my missus) all from Huddersfield.

Leeds folk:- Rob Lemoine, Dennis Billingham, Mike Eastwood, Kenny & Bev Coleman

Think Graham & Sandra Slater and Gary & Marilyn Chatburn were there as well.

+ others forgotten.

Happy days

I seem to remember him at the Mecca alldayer one Sunday where I watched, and then at Wigan I think the follwoing week. When I didn't. I was never a lover of live acts at allnighters. I do remember at the Mecca, everyone was shouting "I Ain't Going Nowhere" to him, as it was pretty big at the time. I don't think he did it , I just remember him replying "Neither Am I"

Don't remember if he had any drummers at all

That would have been '75.

I might have also been in the colourful characters photos Mel

He did tour again Kev. I saw him in 1984 when he was touring the US/UK airbases. Saw him at Brize Norton. Bit sad really as it was full of people that didn't know who he was really and the music became incidental. I spoke to him at length after the show and he seemed Ok with it. Suppose a paychech is a paycheck after all. Ain't nobody can blow like Mr DeWalt in my opinion. A true virtuoso.

Dave
