I'd have thought a bit more there's one on eBay £135 Ono

A Uk song written by ,Ken Gold and Mickey Denne, done by ; Aretha franklin, The  majors Delegation and Renee Geyer, Adored by the adorable johnny manship who 10 years ago rated a stocker at £87 and red demo at £179 so gotta go with Jazz and say if you can find a nice uk only 45 copy they are gonna be expecting in todays market £130 To £150 plus at auction,LOL ,johnny .

Jordirip,i know the feeling ,"the law of the sod" when you wanna buy its mega rare and worth a kings ransom, try and sell and its common as muck ,Swons !LOL Johnny.

If you want to sell it £80, If you want to sit on it for a while £120, If you want to sit on it for a bit longer £150,

If your a well known dealer from Leicestershire (not JM) and want to take the p*** £200

Don't forget this also came out in Spain on Zafiro

Nice record but I do get the Gilbert  comment, it's that intro. Cheers

i think 80 for issue and 120 for a demo

Bought it on release in the 70ts, everyone thought it was rubbish when I played it ! I loved it then and still do. Have seen go for £60 to £100 ish.

Dave

Always seem to see more demo's for sale then issues?

I would have said the other way round but I'd be guessing.

Cheers

PS One of my few finds......20p in a junk shop in Hull in the late 70t's

Unsurprising about Gilbert, it was offered to him and he turned it down !

Personally I think Jackie is by far the version , wouldn't sell my demo ever, great record

Thanks all for the info.

The Aretha version still edges it for me but when its gotta' go its got to go, so sorry Jackie!

As a side note anyone know why the song is so popular in Australia/New Zealand with the numerous youtube home made versions?

The lyrics to this are beautiful. Hopefully everyone has experienced that feeling when they look at someone special - and also, when they look at you in return.

Jackie or Aretha - we could debate until the cows come home.

Sublime.

That's because it kind of IS a Gilbert O'Sullivan record. :)

I actually promoted this when I worked at Decca in 1977. Hated it then and hate it now. Sounds waaaaay too poppy for the great man in my opinion.

Tis a bit poppy Ian, but lovely all the same. It has a great uplifting feel.

I had the misfortune of working some of my heroes most drecky records. Jimmy Ruffin's "There Will Never Be Another You" on EMI spings to mind as well.........:)
