    Thanks Dave. Memories of, in my opinion one of the greatest nighters ever. It was that special Steve

Excellent. Thanks Dave. Bretby was the first allnighter I started going to north of London. I was still in my 20s at the time. I thought I wouldn't know a record and it would be all obscure independent releases. On my first visit there, I was pleasantly surprised to hear Ann Nesby, Mary J. Blige, Blackstreet, Incognito, Maxwell, Maze amongst a load of stuff I wasn't familiar with.

Yep it was fun, some of the credit needs to go to Chris Anderton and his soul nights which lay the ground for the allnighters we followed with. But yes Butch, Graham Ellis and others in the 60's room, and the really popular modern room with the likes of Gavin Page, Myself, Ian (Polly) Palmer, Cliif Steel, and Young Richard . A moment in time, but now days it does get over looked as many of the returnees weren't around and it was a little hardcore that used to frequent venues like this.

Yes great venue and Chris deserves loads of credit, Steve smith played some great tunes. Think we went some alldayers    There as well. Cheers

Some great nights at Bretby allnighters, and the Soul Nights that preceded it.  Rarely ventured from the 60's room the times I went.

Dave, thanks a lot for posting, some great tunes.

As it happens I came across the Bretby 1st Anniversary 12" the other day. One side 70s, other 60s. Were the 70s tunes played in the Modern room? I understand the "NY City walkers" one is an uncredited acetate you played?

Nice one Dave.

Used to enjoy Bretby. Met and made good friends with Gavin here.

Hope all is well boss.

:thumbsup:

Yep all good here Pete

Some nice early modern played in the main room too - one of those venues where I manically ran from room to room thinking I was missing out on something!

:sweatingbullets::(:D

LOL

Although I've never visited the venue in question hearing those tunes certainly brought back some memories for me as well, so thanks for posting Dave!

Cheers
