Steve I continue to be amazed by the power of nature, yet we seem hell bent on destroying the beauty of this planet we call home, sometimes I think we're the aliens. I'm not a fan of daffodils, but the specie Narcissus is incredibly vast and beautiful, I still have one or two to find in Spain, and as one is a late autumn flowerer I have that as an excuse to keep searching next year. Bytheway, I was wearing shorts and sandals on my foray yesterday, it was like a late spring day in the UK.

Twoshoes Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Took this at the top of Fairfield, atmospheric conditions have to be just right it's called a Glory when a rainbow appears at the end of your shadow, I'm no expert at photography wish I was in this instance but you can just about make out the Rainbow at the end of me and my mates shadows. He was lucky enough a few years ago to see a Brocken Spectre where your shadow stretches across the clouds.
Martyn Pitt Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 (edited) We had a rare visitor today, this little beauty should be mid Atlantic off the coast of Africa, it is a Grey Phalarope and was as close to tame as I have seen a wild bird at Belvide, it would happily swim within a few metres of us on the shore, at one point it was swimming under the Pike anglers rods. As I mentioned not so long ago, I've hardly been out and about with my camera at all this year. The only real exception being when we went on holiday in the summer. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to change that in the new year and start contributing more regularly once again. Thanks, then, to you and everyone who's made "Show us your great photos (2016)" as good as, if not even better than, the 2015 thread. And here's looking forward to the 2017 edition, which I'm sure will offer up even more fantastic selections, and which I'll start up once we leave the old year and cross the threshold of the new one. Here he is pre hernia operation before he came home on the 23rd...... . And here he is at home having a sleep on his granddad, weighing in at nearly 7lb ..... My best Christmas present !!! Back in the day (1975) when it left him with next to no chance of making it. 41 years later..........................
