Tomangoes Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Not sure if this has been done before, but as a starter, Nolan Porter - If I could only be sure - was played at Old Trafford last night........Even got a 'clap' when it finished:) What's getting played at your club? Ed
BrianB Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Took my lad (Paul B on here) to Sheffield Wednesday vs Newcastle around 2000 and they played Judy Street's What at half time. We are Burnley fans, but it was an arranged football day out with the Scouts....they played a Sheffield Scouts team in the morning, and the match in the PM, then onto Harry Ramsdens. I have never heard a Northern tune on Turf Moor, even though Burnley has been a NS hotbed from 70/71 onwards.
Tobytyke Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Remember hearing Bok to Bach at Stoke city years ago
Bbrich Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 the nearest at Reading that I remember was Curtis & 'Move on Up' (shortly before we were relegated I think!!)
Dayo Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 (edited) Aston Villa - Suffering City Edited November 26, 2015 by Dayo
KevH Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Was it the Stoke fans who use to sing a long to Tainted Love.?
Pete S Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 1982 the dj played Sherry by Hugo Montenegro before a Wolves match, just the once
Dave Morris Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) Was listening to Final Score on BBC on a saturday a few years ago and they were doing end of game report from Wigan and playing over the tannoy was Frank Wilson - Do I love You. Edited November 27, 2015 by Dave Morris
Professorturnups Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 Went to watch Norwich play at Wigan a few seasons back, we had Dean Parrish IOMW at half time and The Elgins HMHSY as we left the ground. Didn't Wigan Athletic have a Northern Soul day fairly recently? Mark C

Guest Mrs M Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 What about football played at Northern Soul events? In the early 9t's and Ady's Cleethorpes Weekenders there would be a Sunday footie match in the afternoon. Johnny Beggs in goal. Micky Cruise playing a cracking game although he couldn't breathe after 90 minutes lol I'm a Wigan Athletic lass and they always knock out the Northern Soul prematch and at half time. Shame they play shite football now....

Shame they play shite football now.... I remember there was at least one 5-a-side game (maybe two) played outside the Spinning Jenny All-Dayer late 70's. Can't remember who played but a think Colin Curtis had something to do with it. It was the week that Jonathan had bought Frank Wilson, that was the big talk between the record collectors at the time.
Dave Rimmer Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Changing the sport, they always play Jimmy Radcliffe after Wigan Warriors games.

Ian Seaman Posted December 4, 2015 Posted December 4, 2015 if you look on the clubs official websites it lists all the music they play and MUFC seem to play more soul & motown then anyone else
Tubbs Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Rangers used to play Betty Everett getting mighty crowded at euro games
Slim Jim Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 You boys are lucky the announcer for my local team plays Van Morrison at half time . I think he only has one CD its been the same for the last 20 years
Maark Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 At then end of Northampton Town's home games, they play 'Rinky Dink' by The Johnny Howard Band which is about as close to anything 'Northern' I've heard at Sixfields.

There were a couple after kickabouts in the dunes in the morning after the mecca. Never in the know enough to get picked lol.

SOULCENTRAL Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 A few years back I gave a copy of Afternoon on the Rhino to the pre match guys up at the Leeds Rhinos Headingly ground. They used it as the anthem to which the players entered the field of play. Pretty apt tune for such a high collision and high tempo game. ROY 1

Guest Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 NFL Superbowl coverage had the Politicians "Love Machine" as an instrumental filler...sounded good to.
