Citizen P Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) Bessie Banks on the BBC, whodatowtit ??? Edited November 6, 2015 by Citizen P
Jim G Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 watch it from 32 mins in, its about Tainted Love. Gloria Jones's account of how it got be played is hilarious IMHO. Apparently a sailor in Liverpool gave to a young kid for a cigarette and the kid to it to the northern scene and the rest is history.... No mention of Richard Sealing finding it in USA and making it a big sound in Va Va's ! Interesting documentary and worth a watch to remind you of how many British pop acts were singer cover versions. Strangely, there is no mention of Lulu "Shout" https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b06n9q8y/better-than-the-original-the-joy-of-the-cover-version
Quinvy Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Started to watch it, then lost the will to live and turned over. 1
Rhino Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Cant believe it when some woman said the soft cell version sounds more original than Gloria Jones version 1
