45cellar Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 We all must have records with sticker removal marks and tears. However, there are certain Stickers that I either don't mind being on the label or expect to find.I have seen a few Hollywood press Charger for The "In" Crowd and would expect to find the sticker still attached. 3
45cellar Posted October 25, 2015 Author Posted October 25, 2015 The two above have a "COAST TO COAST" stamp on them. 1

Sjclement Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 I've a few with personal names and address stickers on, (step up from the usual felt tip name) having time on my hands now I'm retired I've looked them up on google maps
45cellar Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 Not sure if the Radio Station or Rep would have stamped "THIS SIDE PLEASE" 1
Peter99 Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Interesting thread Roger.Hope you are well Sir.Peter
45cellar Posted October 26, 2015 Author Posted October 26, 2015 Yes thanks Peter, hope you are too.The records are as I received them and I would normally go for a pristine label.Stickers or Stamps placed around the time of release for promotion I don't mind seeing.
Davetay Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Not sure if the Radio Station or Rep would have stamped "THIS SIDE PLEASE"Now that is nice, l never got my hands on a WD in my collecting days.It would have looked nice next to "Let's Get Into Something"
Derek Pearson Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 .Wow The Allstate Record Distributing Company in Chicago. When people often talk about wishing they had some sort of time machine which could transport them backwards through time here's a place I'd have loved to have spent a couple o' weeks wandering about in.Somewhere in this big wide world of ours somebody will have a drawer full of crumpled black n white photographs of this place (inside and out) but I ain't seen them yet. Even checked out those 'Memories From Old Chicago" forum type threads.....I've a few with personal names and address stickers on, having time on my hands now I'm retired I've looked them up on google mapsI thought I was the only odd ball that did this - phew thank you.Derek 1
45cellar Posted October 28, 2015 Author Posted October 28, 2015 I agree Derek It would be brilliant to travel back to the time when they were active. Here's another ALLSTATE.UNITED RECORD DIST.I had to take a photo rather than a scan in order to pick out the vibrant orange sticker. 2

Supercorsa Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Here's a couple from my box.The Barbara Acklin one always puzzled me, thought if it had been a sample would have just been a demo copy? 2

And the name I kept coming back to was John Anderson. As far as I know he was one of the first from the UK to start hoovering up old unwanted vinyl from across the states on an industrial level. For him it was business and I guess he was far too busy to even think about taking photographs. But I imagine photgraphs would have been taken by those in the early waves of Brits abroad as it would be like a dream come true for many.Oh to be surrounded by thousands of 45's in a warehouse in the middle of nowhere.DerekBut until we actually see those photographs I guess we'll never know. They're out there somewhere I know it.A bit like original amateur video footage from the inside of Wigan Casino......or The Torch or even The Wheel. 3
Mick Boyle Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Bought Duke Browner for £200 (few years ago) It came complete with sticker 10C (10 cents - I wish)

It has the same style of sticker with slightly different proportions. It is a U.S.A press, just wondering if some Brunswick were Promoted that way in certain areas when DEMO copies were not to hand.
