Patto Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 (edited) Hi GuysCouple of years ago i asked on here about the Small text Decca copy of Earl Grant--Hide Nor Hair. Some claim them to be second issues to the large text and other very knowledgable guys said no difference both done same year 1967.The copy i have is the small text with Matrix / Runout (Stamped, A run out): 45 118119 4.Before either playing it or selling it i would like to know for sure if the small text is originalCan anyone shed any further light on this one for me please and what does JM list them as in his latest guidethanks in advance------Patto Edited October 10, 2015 by Patto
Dougielawton Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 in jm's guide large text £60 small text £40
Patto Posted October 10, 2015 Author Posted October 10, 2015 Cheers DOUGIE that price difference would poss indicate that the small print was done later but anyone know for sure what the score is with it
Rick Cooper Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 PattoHere is some more Decca info but no answer to the small print question..https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/195133-decca/?page=1 I understood that Decca and Brunswick releases often had small and large print versions but the large print version tends to be the rarer( and they look nicer). They were done at the same time just different locations. I think I had the small print Hide Nor Hair way back before it was popular. Rick 1

Rick Thanks for that Rick thats confirms what most guys tell me .Always been confused as to why the large print seems to cost more
Chalky Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 As Rick said probably just different pressing plants. I think Decca signified which plant of theirs they used by a single figure number after the matrix. 1
