Chalky Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) Just seen the link posted by Stuart Cosgrove elsewhere of the death of Al Abrams, an integral part of the Motown Empire, especially in the early days.https://www.freep.com/story/entertainment/music/brian-mccollum/2015/10/03/al-abrams-early-motown-publicist-dies-obituary/73283738/ R.I.P. Ian Parker Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Fascinating read, integral part of the story by all accounts, RIP, we owe him a lot
Robbk Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Sorry to hear this, and a bit surprised. I had had some nice conversations with him recently. Usually, cancer moves slowly when first diagnosed at a patient's advanced age. But colon cancer is always very dangerous. I just hope he didn't suffer much. He was too young - only a few years older than I. He was one of the main reasons for Motown's success, getting their acts through doors that African-American acts and business had previously been barred.
