So, is this the 'Soul Galore' re-issue from the 70's with stuck on labels or a newer boot?

I think they are Soul Galore reissues with a scanned, stuck-on label.  Reason I say so is that the record looks styrene (as the Soul Galore reissue was), and the label looks pale and matt, like a typical average quality scan.

Why not just purchase the Out Of the past green boot for £6.99 loads around .

Not of Jimmy Mack there aren't..

There is now red "out of the past" reissues with "pointer sisters - send him back"  on the flip, I'm not sure what kudos or credibility having an "out of the past" logo bestows on a "reissue"

I think I'd rather keep it as is, 'Soul Galore', rather than stick a crap looking photocopied label over it!!:g:

It's getting to be like the Olympics - there, you have so many cheating on drugs, it would make sense to have another Olympics for those who don't want to cheat.

Roll on the day when there are two soul markets, one for the cheats and a proper one for OVO buyers.

Why do we have to put up with these fakes polluting the sales pages?

  Maybe this has been mentioned previously ( apologies if so )  .. Why has Jimmy Mack price on a recent bootleg gone to these levels . Please explain .

Lads / Lassies

You know what it's like, there's always some mug out there who thinks they can get some kudos as a warm up act or local promoter by trying to con the punters that they have a better set of sounds, particularly if at first glance they appear legit when spinning in poorly lit venues and of course they will have done it on the cheap.

This was a big bug bear of mine at the Brit in the early / mid 90's - when challenged the response was always - 'the punters like the sounds'

Thought about it for a bit - next time asked to go on early - played all their pressings etc. on original and left them with nothing to play - crowd not impressed with duplication later on. Got the message though - a lot more circumspect after that. Just played even worse shit for a while, then realised a lot of shit x a little £ still added up to a lot of £ and a lot of shit with little residual value - predictable hey, so had an epiphany and started collecting proper stuff albeit slowly - job done !!

The other thing you will notice is that the play-list purveyors of these knock-offs will often disassociate themselves from the fact by immediately retiring to their record boxes and facing away from their audience because we know it is human nature for somebody to wander over to the decks for a 'real one' recce, and that avoids them seeing the 'face of scorn' that results and possible derision that follows.

This conversation / problem will of course run forever whilst it is perfectly legal it appears to counterfeit / deceive without fear of sanction.

Try knocking off 1000 £50 notes - on you like a ton of bricks - 1000 £1000 sounds - not interested

What I find incredible is that the seller actually says that it is not an original and the buyers still keep bidding, either they cannot read, are blind, bit I think just bloody stupid!

I hope that the winner looks on this site

I bought a real one 2 weeks ago  and I have that nasty pink one hanging around and saw this thread.People must be bloody stupid.Buy a pink one and stick your own label on if you are that desperate and save 90 quid or better still buy some real records and stop pretending.Until there are national big current northern soul records that are rare and guarded with cover up names etc this is going to happen.
