I play records every Wednesday in a bar in Manhattan called Botanica (47 East Houston Street). Usually no dancing, just beer and good tunes (soul, R&B, some funk and blues and gospel) from 9:30 till 2:30 or so. Sometimes packed, sometimes empty, but always good loud 45s.

Saturday the 19th is our (me plus DJ One Mint Julep and DJ Cat Fancy) monthly soul dance party at Friends & Lovers in Crown Heights, Brooklyn (641 Classon Avenue). Generally crowded, sweaty, very loud, lots of dancing to northern, Motown, and girl-group sounds plus some R&B and popcorn. 10 till 3 or later, no cover charge. IMO the best soul dance night in New York.

If raucous R&B and black rock & roll with a smattering of garage is your thing, you should check out DJ Jonathan Toubin's weekly Friday party at Home Sweet Home (131 Chrystie Street, Manhattan). 11 till 4, always rammed and vibrant.
