not often I have started a topic of discussion so sorry if im breaking forum rules etc.....but i've been following this DJ /promtor for some years and i'm always interested and generally impressed with his production of rare and popular soul tracks....this is a re mix of the snake, love or hate thoughts would be kindly appreciated, if you heard it at a soul venue in the main room how would you respond.....from a dancer and collectors opinon

Its dreadful ,if I heard that at a soul do I would want my money back . Really wish so called dj,s would stop pissing about with stuff .

Depends if you like karaoke. I suppose if you were a six year old and woke up on Christmas day with a Junior DJ deck-kit in your pillow case, this tune might make gran smile after a few sherries...

It proves the old adage, you can't polish a turd.

A pity that this fine example of messing about with an original work relates to 'The Snake' - a tune which, in it's original state, seems to arouse such venom (no pun intended).

That aside, as a dancer, what would I think if I heard it played in the main room of a venue? 

1 Why is The Snake being played.

2 Why has it been messed about with.

3. Why is it so long (over 5 min)

4. Why is it called the 'Senior Citizens Mix'........six of them have just had heart attacks trying to dance til the end of what they thought was a 2 and 1/2 minute tune.

5. Why did I come here

6 Why am I still here

You can abbreviate all of the above to the one word...WHY.

 

As a collector, what would I think if I heard it played in the main room of a venue?

If played at a venue I would expecting the bride and groom to be in the room, ladies with hats and posh frocks etc,

I would be asking where the soul room was because I've come into the wrong room. 

Paul Junior,these remixes/alternate takes never improve on the orig issue tune; eg, "It Really Hurts Me girl"etc,all the tom Moulton, lee Jeffries, Ian levine et al. The "Snake" in its new skin? I got Hissed off after the boring extended intro, lol Johnny Senior.

If only that 'Silly Woman' had left the fooking reptile to freeze to death in the first place, we'd have never had to suffer the original let alone the remix.
