Mal C Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Saw this on Ebay, I thought it was Canadian recording, dunno, clear hoax, or was this actually cut there, I doubt it personally... Northern Soul 45 With Beatles Related Interest Eddie Spencer-If This Is Love- Abbey Road Test Press This item was recorded at the famous Abbey Road studios in London and this is the original, and probably only Emi disc/Acetate cut at the studio.
Soul-slider Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I read somewhere that Eddie Spencer was a Jamaican, don't know how true that is but that would explain it being cut in the UK.
Mike Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) got to be a test press thing of the power exchange uk release from 1976 the writing has both power exchange label no px 207 and also the power exchange only flip title power of love Edited September 4, 2015 by mike 1
Kegsy Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I read somewhere that Eddie Spencer was a Jamaican, don't know how true that is but that would explain it being cut in the UK.There are a lot of Jamaicans in Canada.
Tattoodave Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 There are a lot of Jamaicans in Canada. There's quite a few in London too for that matter 2
Kegsy Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 There's quite a few in London too for that matterMaybe so, but I reckon Mike is right on this one, its about the Power Exchange release, not about it being recorded in London.
Tattoodave Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Well it has an old London telephone number for the Abbey Road Studios on the acetate, so there's a chance it was recorded there, and is definitely for the Power Exchange release.

It also credits Tony Di Maria who seems to have been responsible for a lot of other Arc releases, plus some on its sister label Yorkville.Power exchange also released quite a few other things from the same Toronto studio. Kegsy Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I'd say it was dubbed at Abbey Road.Power exchange was an E.M.I. label, Abbey Road was an E.M.I. studio, so no real surprise there then.
