Patto Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Hi GuysRecently J.M Auctioned off a Demo copy of Johnny Sayes--My Loves a monster. In the sales notes he explained that the real ones in both issue and demo are identified from the counterfeit by the matrix number being upside down. Now in discussion with a couple of people i have had differing opinions on what upside down actually is on the run out.So i have taken a pic of my copys marix looking from outside edge in.Could someone please tell me if its a good un or not.PATTO
Woodbutcher Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 The printing looks very suspect to me ... compared to this one anyway ... ?
Chris L Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 (edited) Generally when you look at a matrix number it reads and faces out towards the run-in. Edited August 28, 2015 by Chris L
Patto Posted August 28, 2015 Author Posted August 28, 2015 The printing looks very suspect to me ... compared to this one anyway ... ?Do you own that copy and if so which way up is the matrix as according to Manship that feature is the deciding factor
Woodbutcher Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 No not mine , I was judging on the rather amateurish letter spacing an rounded corners on your copy ...
Patto Posted August 28, 2015 Author Posted August 28, 2015 Can anyone please tell me if my copy in first post is a legit original, would really like confirmation either way.someone must know for certain out there.Didnt pay much for it but need to know before playing or selling it if it goes in the boot box or originals box.

Kris Holmes Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 I bought a copy off Midas Touch exactly the same as the original post which was sold as an original.

Tlscapital Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Did it ever come out on that yellow Chi-Town ?No, white promos (a tad harder than the issue) and dark blue only.

Chris L Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 If it's any consolation Craig Moerer has sold boots as originals, so lots of people get duped by the inverted matrix bit.He once sold me a bunch of Johnny Sayles - Can't get enough - thinking they were re-issues and in fact they were originals (was a very, very long time ago)

Chris L Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 He's obviously confused then! It was a very long time ago, they were demos where the "DJ Copy" had been scratched off the label. 1
