Pah!

...I'll second that - a great rock singer by anyone's standards, but about a soulful as a lampshade (and this from someone who owns every Small Faces record and several Humble Pie albums....)

TONE

David Hudson "must I kill her" which if interpreted literally is a very dark piece of music. Not played it for a while but it's all about hiding in a wardrobe contemplating wacking your girlfriend. Good stuff.

Same backing and song as "what can I tell her" JP Robinson and Timmy Thomas.

On a more Northern tip is the excellent Ikettes "Two Timing Double Dealing" on UA a great 70s sound which should scare to death anyone contemplating cheating.

Regards Alan

Pah!

Disagree! His vocal on the SF cover of "You Really Got A Hold on Me" still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up after all these years....

Cashmeres/Showstoppers: (I can never remember which was c/up & which was the real name) " Don't let the door hit your back"

Or, best of all:

The Appointments "Keep Away"

re: Big Daddy Rogers, have another listen - the bit about dropping planks is only if she believes it "when people tell you that i don't love you"...

so actually it's the opposite (despite his violent temperament)

any version of Get Out My Life Woman...

Joe Tex - Pneumonia (funny lyrics but pretty nasty!)

Chuck Holiday - Just Can't trust Nobody

Has to be THE best last line in any record...

........ "THAT LOW DOWN DIRTY DOG JUST STOLE MY WOMAN...."

Not a bad line that, but don't think it beats " You can go and find somebody else-don't need no woman to help me starve to death-can you dig it" :wicked:
