Don't know how many from this site went last night, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially the breaking down of the various elements within the songs, isolating the bass, the drums, the backing vocals, the strings etc. Interesting that the Andantes were used on a Marvelettes record instead of them, as they weren't up to it vocally and they never knew. Before you ask, he didn't say which song. Also the use of various instruments such as the Sitar and the Wurlitzer!

Would have liked a bit more focus on his own solo career, especially the ABC years.

Superb night, really enjoyed it and like you say, Kev, i'd have also liked more time to hear about his solo career too? As we were in there for two and a half hours, we'd have needed another couple of hours i reckon?

What we did get was a unique insight into the peak times of Motown and Hot Wax/Invictus and it was totally fascinating and i for one was so happy I saw a PROPER legend in the flesh in a superb setting of the Epstein Theatre.

Cheers

Steve
