i just bought this. on Lloyd label (silver writing on black label). I got it cheaply and the seller said "it's probably fake anyway'.

just wanted some info on it, as there's no listing for it under Helene Smith on "soulfulkindamusic"

https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/hsmith.htm

maybe it's not a real release (boot of unreleased demo or something?)

anyway, thanks!

"Controlled By Your Love"/ "Chills And Thrills" was a legitimate release for Helene.

But... the record was bootlegged. Originals should be vinyl and have a "DUKOFF" (?) matrix.

The bootleg is styrene with grubby sticked on labels while the original is vinyl with moulded labels. Both are black with silver lettering.

I just noticed the boot copy shows 'Side two' and the title says "I'm controlled..."

Whereas the original doesn't state the side and the title this time says "I'am controlled..."

Among other more obvious things!

The font on the vinyl ones always looks too modern to me.

i agree! if i saw the two side by side i would guess the original is the boot (and vice versa) because of the font (and the misspelling John Benson points out)

Those Lloyd (Reid's, Deep City...) were all vinyls ! Common, the styrene looks totally wrong for a 1965 release. A misspelled title is rather common on originals...

The font on the Paul Kelly looks very different from the Helene Smith orig.

Different but vinyl ! All those Miami pressing plants were... OK, it could have a West coast release (sequel of the Paul Kelly picked for national distribution by Dial), but this doesn't look right to me as an early 1965 USA release with "SIDE ONE" & "SIDE TWO" on it !? But if someone bought the styrene copy in 1965, I'll drop my case. The vinyl has never been suspicious to anybody I've met until this now.
