The Tempest Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Always loved the album and lucky enough to own one , but just watched one finish on Ebay for £370.00 !!!!!No way did I think it was worth that much , is it undergoing a revival or just in-demand ?
Pezer Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Seems a bit much to me!!, great album anyway.I have a test press with handwritten credits.
Steve Ss Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Not funny really but i had a copy early 1980s....I was really taken with the cover...my tastes were a bit more r&b at the time....I thought the music was pants.....I ended up throwing the lp and keeping the cover....certainly not the dumbest move i've were made, but up there with a good few more (with 20/20 hindsight) ...If the lp is £5's worth, whats the cover worth then?:-)
Wiggyflat Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I have a two one sided pressings without a cover with handwritten credits.
Paul R Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I'm sure they were on live at one of the Burnley Rose Room Alldayers in late 74, just after this was released . I've been looking through some Blues & Soul from the time, but can't find it. Can anyone confirm?Paul
Jim G Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 bought it on release in the 70's and sold it in batch of lp's 10 years ago for a few pence (yes pence). I had no idea what it was worth until a fee years ago........
The Tempest Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Thanks for the replies so far, it amazes me the amount of people I have met over the years who bought this as a new release at the time in 74' and sold it for peanuts later on !My copy came from a Mecca regular, 71' - 79 ' who remembers them touring at various venues in the North West at the time to promote the album release, she bought it the next day, so that would tie in with the previous comments ;-)
Jnixon Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Always loved the album and lucky enough to own one , but just watched one finish on Ebay for £370.00 !!!!!No way did I think it was worth that much , is it undergoing a revival or just in-demand ?the seller is a well known bloke from NYC. His auctions can go mad just due to that. There are a lot of people following his auctions. Golden Balls Syndrome is all it is.
pow wow mik Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) I had 4 or 5 copies of this from charity shops in london in the 90s and got decent money for them even then. Still got one of them too, love the tracks 'windy c' and 'holes in my shoes' Edited July 7, 2015 by pow wow mik mistake
John Benson Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Sold my copy of the LP in the early 90's for about £75 - I'd already got the 45 from it, which was the best track on it for me at the time. It only cost about a pound about ten years previous, so I was happy. But at these days prices - I don't really know what's going on!
Benji Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Just to add a bit: album was bootlegged reissued. Late 90s/early 2Ks at a guess. Edited July 8, 2015 by Benji
Daved Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Just to add a bit: album was bootlegged/reissued. Late 90s/early 2Ks at a guess. It wasn't bootlegged. it was a legal reissue from Soul Brother. 1
