Great record, far cheaper and with the same backing than the rare version. 

Just as an aside, after posting this on here as part of a 2009 playlist, I was contacted by Larry Patterson who's band the UP-SET were backing/studio musicians on this tune. Here's what he had to say:

 

"a little tib bit about Call On Me!

The singers could not really hit the HIGHS, so my lead singer Joey Guarino dubbed them in,.....ha ha" and, "Also our voices were dubbed in.

here is the breakdown. of the UP=SET (Music Combination) my band:

Denny Gill~Trumpet~vocals

Billy Sparks~Bass~vocals

Great tune and thanks Kev for sharing the info, I played it out at Monaco soul club last Saturday and it got a decent reception on the dance floor. With any luck it might get the occasional play at certain events and not remain a forgotten tune.

There's something extra in the backing isn't there if I remember rightly, horns or extra backing?  If you alter the pitch though it sounds pretty much the same as the rare release.

Isn't it the Four Reputations which is the rare one and aren't most of em' with reversed labels ?
