Alexander's Hollywood-based label, which ran from c. 1961-63. I don't know where Derby 100 comes into the picture, but it's definitely nothing to do with either of the above. Discounting the Executives and Billy Preston releases (not to mention the Johnnie Taylor album) that Soul City released some years after the event, the only Sam Cooke related Derby record to come out here at the time of its' original US release was Mel Carter's "When A Boy Falls In Love" - which wasn't so much released as 'escaped', on Pye International. The 7-800 series is from a New York label that ran in the 50s and that was owned by Larry Newton, who later went on to run ABC-Paramount records. The short-lived 1000 series is Sam Cooke and J.W. Alexander's Hollywood-based label, which ran from c. 1961-63. I don't know where Derby 100 comes into the picture, but it's definitely nothing to do with either of the above.
