John Benson Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 (edited) Giving this thread a bump on Steve's behalf so as not to upset the mods any further. Not really much help to finding you a copy of the Love Committee UK Test pressing, but the earliest thread about it is here: https://www.soul-source.co.uk/forums/topic/65170-love-committee-tired-of-being-alone/ Here's a scan of my copy: The flip side is blank and the only info in the runout is SPSR 427-1 Edited October 5, 2015 by John Benson
Steve Plumb Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 Hi JohnThanks for re-posting this for me (still after BOTH Gil Scott Heron and Love Committee 45's by the way)Thanks for the info and the scan - i do remember the original thread and re-read it just now too, so thanks againProblem is, on the test pressing, it still doesn't give us a clue to which UK label it was destined for, as SPSR 427-1 doesn't fit in to Salsoul or Gold MInd listings? I presume it was for Salsoul so it must have been a pressing plant numbering system, as i picked up a Diana Ross TP with SPSR-399 number and i guess there will be more but only did a quick check before typing this? Any more info gratefully accepted?CheersSteve
John Benson Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Hi Steve,I did a bit of researching into the SPSR series a while back on Facebook - I can't think off hand which group it was (if any) but it was concerning this actual record and the series is an EMI related pressing.I found most of the info about it on 45Cat, but no mention of this 45, but it's easy to work out the number 427 relates to a 1977 'release' Check out these links and you'll have a better idea, it seems the series used 'SPSR' and also 'PSR' with the same numbering continuation A few 'SPSR' releases here: https://www.45cat.com/45_search.php?sq=Spsr*&sm=cnhttps://www.45cat.com/45_forum_topic_view.php?t=2170&h=p14619#p14619'PSR' here: https://www.45cat.com/45_search.php?sq=*PSR+*&sm=cnYour Diana Ross single is of course "Love hangover" - as can be seen at number 37 in this list: https://www.45cat.com/45_list_view_record.php?li=185I could go on, but I think you get the idea - the only other one I think I have is the Stevie Wonder "Christmas Greetings From Motown 1977" at number 42But this really ought to be on another thread - not on your wants!Good luck!
Steve Plumb Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 BRILLIANT info John many thanks as alwaysCheersSteve 1
