SUFFERING WITH A HANGOVER - PART 2 Whether you're suffering with a hangover or not, Mr Young is here to provide the soundtrack to the booze, possibly not so it's aftermath. THE OPELLS (LINCO) VG £1350 A. YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU B. DAY AND TIME Rarer than a decent pint of Fosters...we offer to you The Opells. Day & Time is the dancefloor track whereas the A side is for the sweet soul guys & gals. From the same town that brought you the United Sounds...this may just be as rare but possibly more so untouched from the UK perspective.   ELLIS AND CEPHAS (VON'S) VG+ £85 A. HEART B. I'M GONNA MISS YOU GIRL Recently comped on the Soul Cal release from Now Again, this tune outweighs its sound in price and another one that I haven't heard played out apart from the Movin' On crew. Pic Sleeve included.   THE SURVIVING HEARTS (SURVIVING HEARTS) VG £125 A. EVERY LITTLE TEARDROP B. SAILING MY LONELY HEART Spare copy of this as I wouldn't sell my own, double sided sweet soul 45 with progressions that remind me of Jimmy Hendrix. OSCAR PERRY (FERON) EX £750 A. FACE REALITY B. THE REST OF MY LIFE Possibly Mr. Perry's finest record cut. Face Reality for the folk who can shake their feet faster than they can a stick, the B side offers the after hours sound track. 45 has warp that doesn't affect play. MICKEY AND THE SOUL GENERATION (MR.G) EX £875 A. HOW GOOD IS GOOD B. GET DOWN BROTHER Rare, Deep funk classic instrumental on both sides. One that normally exchanges hands for four figures, clean copy here. SLY, SLICK & WICKED (BAD BOYS) EX £40 A. TONIGHT'S THE NITE B. WE'RE SLY, SLICK & WICKED...WICKED The best produced rolita I've heard from the boys on the ever-popular, west coast Bad Boys label. KEITH CURTISS (SMOKE) VG+ £1150 A. MY LOVE I CAN'T HIDE B. I GOT TO KEEP YOU BABY Rhythm & Soul at it's finest, known in less than a handful of hands...I Got To Keep You Baby is the side for me however the A side is also one that's had its fair share of spins. GAIL NEVELS (STAR-TRACK) VG- £475 A. HE CAN'T DO WITHOUT ME B. TAKING MY MIND OFF LOVE Detroit 45 in Detroit condition, but also with it's own unique beauty of the Detroit sound. Taking My Mind Off Love, the release prior to the widely known Carol Anderson version, has more teeth and a lot more beef to it. Verging on a deep funk sound, I can't remember the last time I saw this 45 for sale. SONNY DAYE W/ SLY, SLICK & WICKED (BAD BOYS) EX £700 A. GIVIN' UP ON LOVE B. NEVER HAD A GIRL... (LIKE YOU!) Quite possibly the rarest on the label...widely renowned for 'Never Had A Girl'...the flip side also offers a decent track. All in all, quality double-sider and rarely seen for sale. THE BROTHERLY FIVE (CGA) VG £700 A. COME FLY WITH ME B. LOSING MY GIRL First heard Butch spin this at Cleggy a few years back, searched endlessly and found a clench, however copies have now dried up and this is my last one. Losing My Girl is one of my favourite tracks on the list. SKIP DRAKE (CASH) VG £700 A. WRAPPED AROUND YOUR FINGER A. DON'T DO IT SISTER, DON'T DO IT BROTHER A Northern/Funk double sider from the iconic Cash label out of Chicago. I'm sure you know it, if not get to know it...this copy is signed by Skip himself. THE SOUL INJECTION (ACCENT) EX £800 A. STAY OFF THE MOON B. GIRL FULL OF CHARM You won't hear this at NASA's Christmas party as the fellas are asking to solve problems here on Earth before jet setting the galaxy. One for the sweet soulers on the flip. STRANGERS ft. MARILYN RAMOS (BROADWAY) EX £350 A. I DON'T WANNA BE ALONE TONIGHT B. FLY ME HIGH Tipped by Ian Wright, exact same track as the Mystic Sound 45 credited to Friends & Strangers... however you get more hole for your money here. PERRY AND THE HARMONICS (MERCURY) EX £425 A. DO THE MONKEY WITH JAMES B. JAMES OUT OF SIGHT Slaying Mod dancefloors all over the shop. Clean copy of the 45 made from hens teeth, normally seen on that bigger 12" version. ANUBIS (SALT CITY) VG OFFERS A. ECOLOGY B. ANUBIS Gem of the list, say no more... Get in touch if you want this one. FRANKIE ALEXANDER (DeELEGANCE) VG £450 A. NO SEAT DANCIN B.TAKE TIME OUT FOR LOVE Relatively unknown and underrated modern 45 from Memphis. Doing the European circles but yet to hear it in the UK. This one's to Doris, as Frankie personally wrote on the label. BROTHERHOOD (TESSERACT) VG £700 A. WHEN YOU NEED ME B. EXPRESSING MY LOVE Definately a soulful trio this lot, 2 rare & fantastic sides from the Brotherhood out of Michigan. Another personal highlight on the list. MARY MUNDY (INSURANCE CITY) VG £375 A. OPEN UP YOUR HEART B. ELETRIC GHETTO Another Ian Wright frantic mayhem dancefloor ditty (Electric Ghetto) backed with a lovely sweet soul ballad.   SEATTLE PURE DYNOMITE (ONE WORLD) VG £200 A. I WONDER LOVE B. I WANNA LOVE YOU (LET ME LOVE YOU) Vinyl on this is shiny & clean, don't know what them static sounds are about, anyway, here reflected in price as normally shells out for double. Rub it against a balloon, maybe that'll sort it. TECHNIQUES (TECHNIQUES) EX £300 A. DISCO JUNGLE B. BRIGHTER DAYS Fortunate to find another copy of this, relatively unknown island infused hypnotic modern soul spectacle. HARRY MOON (JENGES) VG £1150 A. NO MATTER WHAT B. WOMAN'S MAN It's all about the man, the Moon, the woman's man, Mr Harry Moon. Doing it's rounds for a while and rightly so, but that's not to say there's many out there. MICHAEL SMITH (PHAROAH) VG+ £325 A. A LOVE THATS HEAVENLY INSPIRED B. BECAUSE OF YOU Another untouched modern mover from Memphis, Michael Smith talking about Heaven and Love. JUS' US (ANNTHONETTE) EX £1100 A. JUST US TOGETHER B. JUST US TOGETHER (LONG VERSION) Forever & a day to find this one, absolute stonker from the Jus' Us group out of Akron, Ohio.
