always get the Mastercuts volumes, great start.. and 'The 'Rare Grooves for the Dance floor' series has some nice stuff on it, they look very thrown together but have some interesting selections...

also there was a great one in the 8ts/9ts called 'Shake and Finger pop' from the club night I guess, that was really good... also RARE - A Rare Collection of Grooves was a brill series... and the Funk Soul Brother series was also another must have...

As well as all the Mastercuts series and others mentioned, I remember buying these two from Streetsounds at the same time, circa '88. https://www.streetsounds.co/Rare_Groove.htm

Urban Records put out some good comps of Polydoor releases at the time too "Urban Classcs" 1-3, some great stuff on these and you can pick up for couple quid each if you look around.

I think the RCA 'Rare' series of albums was far and away the best sets of rare groove compilations. If you can find the Midnight Music bootleg comps, they are also just as good if not better. (IMO)
