Guest Ranger Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I've always found it impossible to choose a favourite soul record (or even a top ten) that doesn't change on a daily basis. But what about a favourite album? is chosing a standout album any easier? So what's your favourite that fits the following.. Consistent over all the tracks, a standout is a bonus not a necessity Format immaterial, viny or CD From any soul genre From any era Rarity irrelevent Kev And before anybody asks, no you cant have a 'Best of....' compilation

Sweeney Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Friction - The Soul Children (Stax) Not a bad track on it. If you're tempted to buy it don't buy the UK pressing as it's sonically far inferior to the US one.

Soul Shrews Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Wasn't there something dodgy about the owner of Beverly Glen?? A gangster or something like that Beverly Glen was owned by Otis Smith (no, not that one!) Anita Baker famously credited one of her songs on the ''Rapture" LP to her memories of him, it was called "Watch Your Step" Cheers Paul

Sean Hampsey Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 A real grueller this one, I'm afraid... Fighting it out for the Guys.... Lou Courtney "I'm In Need Of Love" Bobby Womack "Lookin For A Love Again" And a Catfight for the ladies....... Sandra Wright "Wounded Woman" Millie Jackson "Caught Up" Vols 1 & 2 They've been fighting it out for years, in my head, and I still can't decide on a clear winner! Worse still, there are dozens of other strong contenders. Sean Hampsey
