Raresoul45s Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Hi I've just acquired a copy in a collection purchase of Sandpipers - I Really Love You - Giant A nice Mike Terry arrangment Any info on this 45 re: price - particularly, demand etc and who or who's playing it. Thanks Darren
Dazz Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Prefer the other side myself 'Lonely too long' used to be a £300-£350 record at one time although in recent years seems to have come down a bit to £100-£150 well the ones I've seen anyway.
Raresoul45s Posted May 15, 2015 Author Posted May 15, 2015 Thanks Dazz for the reply, agree two nice sides. First copy I've had, actually thought it was a bit rarer. Cheers Darren
hullsoul Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Darren Prices vary between £50+ to £200 on Popsike. https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=Sandpipers+I+Really+Love&thumbs=&currsel=3&sortord=ddate&x=18&y=8 https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=Sandpipers+lonely&thumbs=&currsel=3&sortord=ddate&x=17&y=10 Cheers Martyn
Robbk Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 (edited) None of the recordings for the sales are still uploaded. I can't find those songs on You-Tube. Can anyone direct me to a soundfile of them. I'm curious to hear them. I passed that record up when it was out, as I was unable to listen to it, and thought it was instrumentals or Pop singing (despite being Pied Piper). Thanks. Robbk Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Thanks. Now I know why I didn't buy it! A Pop rather than Soul vocal. Great track for a Soul Girl's group recording. Mike Terry never arranged a lousy track, did he? 1
George G Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 The recent Pied Piper production CD says there wasn't any solid info on the singers IDs.
Chalky Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Pied Piper or not, it is vocally terrible. I can only imagine it got plays because of its rarity.
Harry Crosby Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Bit of a marmite record like that other one Mike N ray if only you knew, not really for me. But a must for those Detroit collectors.
