Guest Laura Preminger Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Hello, Maybe someone can help me to see things clearer with Tams - This Precious Moment ... I am aware of different presses and versions : I know about a 1982 Supreme belgian press which song I love. Then, there are two different takes on 1978 yellow Sounds South label : one with sax in it, one with violins (the same version as the belgian press). And I am a bit clueless when it comes to the 1978 red Sounds South press ... How many takes are they with this one ? I think part of the answer is in the cat# number : according to discogs, there are two numbers for each press (red and yellow) : S0 14098 and S0 14099. I want to buy the violin version, how the hell should I proceed ?
Guest Laura Preminger Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 TO BE CLEARER ... Is this the same mix as the US red label press ?
Alan T Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Red and yellow are the same mix, same as the Belgium one above. The other version was from the album. 1
Swifty Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 (edited) My yellow One is/was different than the Belgium one , I cant play it as I just sold it but I know it's not the same as above The Yellow one has the Sax in the beginning Cheers Swifty Edited May 14, 2015 by SWIFTY
Swifty Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 do you know what I can't bloody remember what my Yellow one sounded like DOH ! but this one off youtube Swifty
Alan T Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 That one above doesn't match the picture, i'm sure that's from the album. I had both red and yellow at the same time and i never noticed any difference. 1
Guest Laura Preminger Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Is it possible that there are 2 takes ? A friend of mine has the yellow one and it sounds just like the belgian one ...
Tsu Tomatoes Posted May 14, 2015 Posted May 14, 2015 Laura, I've just sold the yellow Sounds South 45 and it is definitely the same as the Belgian copy above. Neil
Guest Laura Preminger Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Thanks Neil ! What about the red copy ?
John Moffatt Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 My red copy does not have the sax bit at the beginning. Sounds very much like the Supreme version. It's the same length (2:35), dated 1978.
Solution Guest Ivor Jones Posted May 15, 2015 Solution Posted May 15, 2015 (edited) do you know what I can't bloody remember what my Yellow one sounded like DOH ! but this one off youtube Swifty I can see why Laura didn't want that mix, its inferior to the normal version. The recording on this is not lifted from the Yellow labelled version 45…….Must be a later mix from LP or some other release ? People do these sort of things all the time on Youtube. They lift a scan of a 45 from somewhere and a sound clip from another source. The red and yellow 45 versions are both identical recordings and the Belgian copy sounds the same too…. Guest Laura Preminger Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Ivor Jones, thank you so much for your answer ! Now, I finally know ! Alan T was already pointing at this direction and I was beginning to blame Youtube as well Regards, Laura
Dave Pinch Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 i had the red copy.... and the belgian you tube clip is mine from the actual 45...both are the same
Hammersoul Posted September 12, 2017 Posted September 12, 2017 Just a matter of interest ,what was 1st? Red or Yellow? I was under the impressive Red. Just been looking at prices and the yellow is listed on line at £99-160, yet Red at £88. Am i missing something here, cos i never thought it was hard to find both colours.
