Steveh73 Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Hi there - wondering whether this got an original release on the Whisper To A Scream album or just the CD reissues? Many thanks...............................
Mike Lofthouse Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Not on the original vinyl - first appeared on a remastered CD issue and a few variations since...
Daved Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 It first appeared legitimately on the Esther Phillips Anthology CD on Soul Brother, I think.

No Daved - it first appeared legitimately on a re-issue of 'Home Is where the Heart is' as an additional track - Japanese I think - the Soul Brother release was way way down the line.... 3
TheBigO Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 (edited) Fantastic toon I'd forgotten all about, Carole King at her songwriting best. Thanks for bringing this back up again from one of my all time fave singers - CLASS Edited May 12, 2015 by TheBigO
jocko Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 And a very very good version by the Isley Brothers also, although obviously for me Esther wins hands down. 1
TheBigO Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 Esther just has one of THOSE voices Jocko, a league of her own
John Benson Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 No Daved - it first appeared legitimately on a re-issue of 'Home Is where the Heart is' as an additional track - Japanese I think - the Soul Brother release was way way down the line.... As far as I am aware it was first out on the 1988 US CBS CD "From a whisper to a scream" as a previously unreleased track. (Which does contain "Home is where the hatred is" - I think that's what Mike was thinking of?) Although, there does appear to be a CD on Discogs released in Holland which is dated 1987, but I can't imagine that being correct, plus they don't show any images which would confirm that. The Soul Brother Anthology release, which was not until 2003, but was probably the first time the track appeared on vinyl. Some 15 years after the CD was released...
