Guest illtalbeats Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Kicking myself I didn't see this last week, but it looks to be an OG Tamala Lewis sold for a fraction of what it normally does?https://www.popsike.com/NORTHERN-SOUL-TAMALA-LEWIS-YOU-WONT-SAY-NOTHING-CLINTON-US-VINYL-SINGLE-NM/251935725950.html Can anyone confirm if it's not a boot from the pic? If it is real, has demand gone that far down or just a fluke?
Monkey Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Looks like it may be the boot with a photocopy label stuck on here is the original listing https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NORTHERN-SOUL-TAMALA-LEWIS-YOU-WON-039-T-SAY-NOTHING-CLINTON-US-VINYL-SINGLE-NM-/251935725950?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3aa88a197e&nma=true&si=3WsHpw2M5By6niY3bw2DdDz1%252BnA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Mach Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Gotta say you dont see that blue boot too often. pretty scare
Bazm Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Initial thoughts.... Nothing to suggest this is a photocopied label in the description What blue boot? didn't know there was one.... Why so few views for such a potentially big ticket item? Was it a short time listing? Gutted if i'd missed this..........big time want
ShorterSoul Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 7 day listing, only 3 bidders. One bidder with 17 bids all on the same day, looks like they were trying to outbid the other high bidder who won it..
Guest illtalbeats Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 If you look closely, looks like the upper portion of the label has some black on it (which would indicate it was a scan). However, I always thought the boot had a raised/ribbed edge I've never seen either in person though so no idea
grouse Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) It's a bootleg. Edited May 13, 2015 by grouse 1
Guest sharmo 1 Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 I'd say it's a boot , if you look at the inner rim of the label around the hole it looks a little oval and miss sharpened especially on the b side . I could be wrong . regards S.

Guest illtalbeats Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Ahhhh... I feel better about missing it then Still, $170 for a boot? Seems a bit much when the Orange boot usually goes for $25-$30.
Mach Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) i,ve had that blue boot twice, but its not widely known,.. unlike the common orange one Edited May 11, 2015 by Mach
Mick Holdsworth Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Looks like it was one I sold in 2011 - just checked and I sold it for £10 - It was just an orange boot with scans of originals stuck on, and sold as such. Here's the pic from my original listing on eBay, circa 2011 Positive it's the very same copy. Cheers Mick 2
Pete S Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 It was a stuck on label, I spoke to the person who bought it today, he didn't read the description
Cover-up Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 marton.jpg If you look closely, looks like the upper portion of the label has some black on it (which would indicate it was a scan). If you look even closer, someone has gone over the thicker bits of the logo with a silver pen...
Benji Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 It was a stuck on label, I spoke to the person who bought it today, he didn't read the description The one linked in post #1 didn't mention any stuck on labels.
Frankie Crocker Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Stuck on labels really suck... In the long run, this has got to be the worst thing that could happen to record collecting. At least you (usually) know where you stand when you buy a plain bootleg. Selling counterfeit records with fake labels added, and marketed to deceive the unwary is bound to cause problems somewhere along the way. 3

Unless of course your actual name is Frankie Crocker in which case I apologise unreservedly. Ian D

Ian D Who says I'm a guy? Now you really have hurt my feelings... Back on topic, what's your view on selling and buying counterfeit records that have had false labels Pritt Sticked on? 1
Pete S Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 The one linked in post #1 didn't mention any stuck on labels. Maybe not but it did have them, according to the buyer - he should know
Guest illtalbeats Posted May 12, 2015 Posted May 12, 2015 So is there an actual blue look-a-like bootleg or are all those copies simply the orange boot with a stuck on label?

Back on topic, what's your view on selling and buying counterfeit records that have had false labels Pritt Sticked on? Sorry madame. Deffo not into counterfeit records that have been pritt-sticked with false labels. Designed to deceive. I used to be called Frankie too....... Ian D

I used to be called Frankie too....... Ian D So did you have the op too? I like a person who is frank. I know a girl in Wales called Nia which would be a good name for someone called Ian. My nan used to get her sausages from Dewhirsts. Please darling, no more apologies. Francine C'Rocker (Ms) 1
